And here I thought it was the Thanksgiving fairy ...
Today women (and yes, it’s women) across America begin a week of hectic chaos that only the holidays can bring. Like me they are looking forward to visiting relatives and only have a few things to attend to.
Make a menu, not only for Thanksgiving day, but for breakfasts and lunches while visitors stick around for the weekend. G...... [Show More]

Sorry for the delay …
Most of the 2nd day of AUSA i spent with LAW of Parent Zone. We started off the day attending another Family Forum that mainly focused on the Army’s National Guard and Reserve component .
It was really interesting to see all the National Guard/Reserve families that were there. Since this forum mainly focused on them, there was a multude of information and r...... [Show More]

~ The kids have friends who come knocking on the door. That makes me so happy! I don’t even know why. But they come to see if the kids can play outside and are so cute.
~ Funny how a trip to get an oil change and to stop at the craft store to spend a gift card can turn into oil change, craft store, toy store, eating out, and three other stores. We didn’t get home until just after 10 ...... [Show More]
If you’re as fed up as I am with the media’s blackout on all things good about the Military, there are a places you can hear from the troops themselves right here on the internet. I love internet radio, because I can listen while doing paperwork or house stuff or packing care packages, and on some shows, I can join in the chatroom, hang out with other listeners and be a part of it al...... Webster defines courage as “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty ”
As we near the sixth anniversary of the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom (October 7, 2001), we have all seen different kinds of courage.
We’ve seen the kind of courage found on the battlefield . Over and ove r, we’ve seen what th...... [Show More]
I said that to Husband yesterday.Â
When I breathe in lately, I breathe joyfully. I feel gratitude. I look at my children and my heart effortlessly swells.
I have my moments… My ‘head exploding with the craziness of two kids running around and crying and arguing and yelling’ moments. I do.
But these days I am feeling better than I have since College. I think I may...... [Show More]

It’s looking more and more like B’s unit will be going to Afghanistan, not Iraq. There has been no reduction of the time window for deployment yet: sometime in the first half of 09; that’s about all we know. That it’s Afghanistan they’ll be going to is not set by any means, but the gear (mostly cold-weather gear) they got issued this week would easily be mor...... [Show More]
By Lynn Truong I was recently invited by BlogHer to speak on the Blog Monetization Panel at their San Francisco conference. With over a thousand women bloggers attending the conference, I expected to run into quite a few personal finance bloggers. The conference planners had the same idea and had set aside a room for a personal finance meet-up. The meet-up was packed with industry pl...... [Show More]
I still do this. He isn’t deployed any more, but almost certainly will be deployed yet again within the next year or so. I thought I was just having trouble letting go of the deployment mindset, the defense mechanisms I’d put into place. In truth, I was sort of beating myself up over not being able to stop the random morbid moments. I definitely didn’t share it with anyone e...... [Show More]

silly me Post Source: shewhowaits.com Posted: Feb 16 2008 00:14:14
I had to read Sarah’s post twice today. How appropriate.
Everyone here knows that the military is a neverending cycle of hurry-up-and-wait, of finding out about changes at the last minute, of thinking you’re headed in one direction only to find you’re headed in the opposite.
Everyone knows this. I know this.
I think this is all my fault. I had a plan. Silly me. I...... [Show More]

DH’s mother and an old friend of hers decided it would be cool to reunite their sons. This woman, who named her son after a city, convinced him to contact us. I can call him a kid because he is over ten years younger than I am. So, like, not allowed to buy a beer kind of younger than me. Anyway, kid who is named after a city (or KWINAAC) has not seen DH since KWINAAC was like 6 ...... [Show More]
