For the last few weeks, I have been holding the presidential campaign in the Light, asking for Truth to be make known, and for Truth to prosper. It is my constant prayer, on waking, laying down to sleep, and most of the time in between. When it went further and Senator Obama was accused of ‘pallin’ around with terrorists’ without ‘terrorist’ being further defined to mean a member of a ‘60’s radical group, I was angry. When I watched the videos of rallies and heard a few attendees yell “Kill him”, “Off with his head”, and “terrorist” I was saddened, but when I saw no push back from the leaders, I got scared. It seemed to me there was a beast being unleashed, a flame being kindled that could quickly burn out of control. That night, I prayed without words most of the n...

I received this email from the Hillary Clinton campaign on Wednesday: Dear Amy, We are living in a very special time in American history, with an election that has redefined the boundaries of possibility and set our nation on a positive path with new leadership. Things are changing in Washington and we have reason to hope that the next four years will look much different and better than the last eight. As we look forward to a new era in Washington, there is still one piece of unfinished... more

Mike Santner writes: A great illustration of the coming redistribution of our wealth. As a side note, the howobamagotelected.com site I sent you earlier made it to O’Reilly tonight, and apparently, left wing web sites are furious.  What, that people now know how stupid they are?   The Zogby poll actually backs up the results of these interviews as true, that the poll subjects knew more about the negative of the GOP than anything at all about the Dumbocraps.  Did you hear when... more

Early this morning, lawmakers announced that they had agreed on a tentative plan to bailout financial firms . The Wall Street Journal reported an "exhausted" Treasury Secretary as saying, "I think we’re there," during a press conference with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Christopher Dodd, and House FInancial Services Chairman Barney Frank--all top Democrats. Pelosi said, "We’ve made great progress. We have to get it committed to paper... more
John McCain is no friend of farmers

Coming from a long line of farmers in my home county of Barbour, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for American farm families. I know first hand how tough life can be for farmers and their families. That’s why Senator John McCain’s recent comments opposing the Farm Bill were so disturbing. McCain came out in strong opposition to the bill, saying “I don’t support agricultural subsidies no matter where they are. The farm bill, $300 billion, is something America simply can’t a... more

It is a necklace, dark fishing line, intricately woven through my skin and connected in a series of knots, lying above my collar bone, and below the large wrinkle that would cut through my Adam’s apple if I was a man. The necklace is not a full neck wrap, but starts behind where the eye can see on the left side, the side where the fine mesh netting of interwoven lymph nodes were dissected from the tissues underlying the skin, and continues through the center of my neck, where underneath the t... more

Hello everybody. This is the 14 year old (previously known as the 13 year old) and I just want to give you a quick update on how mom is feeling. We went to the hospital yesterday and mom got her surgery done. The doctor did not deem it necessary to dissect the right side of the thyroid so she just had a total left thyroidectomy done. The doctor said that he is very pleased on the outcome of the surgery. Mom is fine and recovering and I would just like to thank everybody fo... more

There was a choice to be made today; L needed to visit his sister in Wyoming and I am parenting solo for the weekend. The recovery goes slowly, and the 14 year old has an indoor lacrosse tournament that I need to parent him to. It was a choice between the tournament and attending Meeting for Worship, as I know I cannot do both without pushing myself too hard. So, I woke up and decided for the tournament. But I miss my faith community and I miss my time of communal seeking and listening for the ... more
