The time is drawing close for Clinton supporters to realize that their candidate has no chance of winning the nomination. She will win Pennsylvania, of that I am sure but I don’t believe she will win by any significant margin as some people might suggest. In honor of Google’s new quote function, I have decided to extract some of the more interesting Clinton quotes and give my views of what she was really thinking at the time.
She said last week that she knows, “what it means to get knocked down, but I’ve never stayed down.” - 13 April 2008 (Fox News)
What she was really thinking: “I am the living undead, once I win, you will all become Clinton Zombies!”
“I don’t pretend to even believe that I know the answers to a lot of these questions,” Clinton said. - 18 April 2008 (Owen Sound Sun Times)
What she was really thinking: “If you only knew how little I knew, most of my policies were extracte...

I received this flier in the mail the other day from the North Carolina Republican State Executive Committee.
Clinton and McCain look like they’re in love, judging by the cover, and the copy is just adulatory:
“With intensity and hard work, she left 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling”
and, on the inside,
“I share Senator Clinton’s goal of promoting women to more important roles throughout our government. By the end of my first time, I promise yo... more
The Pendulum Swings From: blatherwincerepeat.com Post Date: 2008-11-06 10:39:48
The outcome of the election was not a surprise. A Dem win by either Senator Clinton or Obama became a near fait accompli the moment McCain clinched the nomination in a year in which the economy was the dominant issue for the electorate. The real shocker would have been a McCain upset.
But like many other [...]... more

I received this email from the Hillary Clinton campaign on Wednesday:
Dear Amy,
We are living in a very special time in American history, with an election that has redefined the boundaries of possibility and set our nation on a positive path with new leadership.
Things are changing in Washington and we have reason to hope that the next four years will look much different and better than the last eight.
As we look forward to a new era in Washington, there is still one piece of unfinished... more

A great illustration of the coming redistribution of our wealth.
As a side note, the howobamagotelected.com site I sent you earlier made it to O’Reilly tonight, and apparently, left wing web sites are furious. What, that people now know how stupid they are?
The Zogby poll actually backs up the results of these interviews as true, that the poll subjects knew more about the negative of the GOP than anything at all about the Dumbocraps. Did you hear when... more
Early this morning, lawmakers announced that they had agreed on a tentative plan to bailout financial firms . The Wall Street Journal reported an "exhausted" Treasury Secretary as saying, "I think we’re there," during a press conference with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Christopher Dodd, and House FInancial Services Chairman Barney Frank--all top Democrats. Pelosi said, "We’ve made great progress. We have to get it committed to paper... more
Coming from a long line of farmers in my home county of Barbour, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for American farm families. I know first hand how tough life can be for farmers and their families. That’s why Senator John McCain’s recent comments opposing the Farm Bill were so disturbing. McCain came out in strong opposition to the bill, saying “I don’t support agricultural subsidies no matter where they are. The farm bill, $300 billion, is something America simply can’t a... more

Although the presidential elections in the US do not generate as many reactions as the French elections in Madagascar, the intrigue surrounding the democratic party's nomination provoked plenty of reactions on the Malagasy blogosphere. Seven posts, mostly centered around the Barack Obama phenomenon, in the past month led to 116 comments.
Some Malagasies are convinced that Obama is able to implement the unity he promised, both in the US and on in the international scene.

From a report on the TV news show 60 Minutes, here is more evidence that the “secret Muslim” rumors are hurting Barack Obama among some sections of the voting public, by tapping into fear of “the Other” among less educated Americans. For background, see my earlier post on the subject, “ My Middle Name Is Hussein .”
To his credit, when Obama is asked about the rumors and denies them, he doesn’t just say they are insulting to him as a Christian. He also points out that they are ... more
A couple of months ago (and several times up til now) I registered my displeasure with the fact that the primary assumptions resulting in many of the failed policies of the Bush Administration (and indeed the previous one) were not being questioned in the primary presidential debates or even in the major forums for debate on foreign policy. The particulars of neo-conservative philosophy were... more
Canadian Parliament asks PM Questions People ask me why I care so much about US elections, especially those South of the border. This is currently on the Barack Obama You Tube page. Still don’t think America’s politics has any impact in Canada? This of course relates to the NAFTA story and Obama giving us the heads up in advance of the Ohio debate. For the record, I am unaware of any Canadian "right wing operatives" working for the Republicans, but I personally went up to C... more
