Well it’s been over half a year since we’ve posted one of our “TGI Covers” and what better way to celebrate its triumphant return than with a good ‘ol fashioned Bob Dylan cover? The cover in question is “I Shall Be Released” and was performed just the other day in Spokane, WA by none other than Wilco and Fleet Foxes.
Fleet Foxes are clearly the harmony masters so it’s no surprise that this cover sounds absolutely incredible live. Oh yeah, and Wilco sound orrite, too. This video alone just made me about fifty bajillion times more excited for Fleet Foxes’ tour in Australia later in the year. Check it out:

The Guardian reports that New Order is recalling its latest batch of reissues.
Though the albums were released in the UK last month, fan furore over sound quality only won a response after the US release this week. And despite fans’ loud online complaints, major publications like Q, Mojo and Pitchfork didn’t seem to notice the sound issues in their reviews.

So the recently label-free Trent Reznor aka Nine Inch Nails aka NIN did a total Radiohead and released a new record ON THE INTERNET, COMPLETELY BYPASSING THE MAN! On any other day just hearing the word ‘remix’ would make me run for the hills. As a consumer, I’ve never really understood the point of buying an artist’s single, when the only extras you’re paying for is three or so other versions of the same song that you can already listen to on the artist’s album.
Björk is completely guilty of doing this. The past four singles that have been released off her latest album, Volta , have contained up to seven r... more mcArtney Sells Debut EP Exclusively OnlineFrom: twelvemajorchords.com Post Date: 2008-03-06 20:08:42
One major criticism about the recent trend of online music distribution is that while results are proving the ‘revolutionary’ process to be a lucrative marketing exercise, it seems to be only really financially beneficial to the big boys, a la Radiohead and more recently, NIN. But this setback hasn’t deterred Sydney muso mcArtney (no, not him - note the singular ‘c’) from releasing his self-produced, self-recorded debut EP, Volume One , exclusive... more The Millionaires Album Launch TonightFrom: twelvemajorchords.com Post Date: 2008-03-05 22:54:58
You’d be right for thinking that onetime regular 12MC haunter, Dave ‘Uncle Dave’ McCormack, had been living out some kind of romanticised version of the retired rocker’s life, judging from the complete lack of news surrounding 1999’s ‘Best Music Video’ ARIA winner.
So it’s with great pleasure that we kickstart the McCormack engine once again with the news that ol’ mate Dave isn’t off blowing royalty checks on the purchasing of... more
