Teatro Ciego, or Blind Theater , is a performance group in that does show completely in the dark; about half of the actors in the show are blind, half are not. Lacking the sense of sight, the new production of “A ciegas a Luz” uses taste, smell, touch, and sound. According to La Nación , this new show includes a blind piano player, a singer whose name (ironically) is Luz (which means light), and a gourmet sampling of foods. Audience members experience food in the dark, allowing the taste, touch, and smell of the food to be that much more powerful. The show is in three acts and lasts an hour and a half. During the intermissions, the audience is treated to such sounds as a boy going by on a bicycle and a train passing. Shows are every weekend, twice a night on the corner of Zelaya and Jean Juares.
