My friend Dan posted this link to the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change in a comment recently.
Here is a quote;
Only 27 percent believed “the current state of scientific knowledge is able to provide reasonable predictions of climate variability on time scales of 100 years.”
No one disputes atmospheric carbon dioxide, (CO2), levels are rising. Nobody disputes we are dumping tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. So what is the point? Let’s change the atmosphere and see what happens?
One thing we do know is CO2 dissolves in the ocean to form carbonic acid. Carbonic acid dissolves the shells of sea creatures. Even if you don’t believe in global warming, rising CO2 concentrations threaten sea life .
I don’t really think the threat of global warming is going to change much. I guess I never expected the world to get together and fix the hole in the ozone layer either, so I could be wrong.
I do disagree with what he says about the cost of...

Bill Foster is a physicist who won a special election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Politics are so strange I guess it’s not surprising that few scientists want to run for Congress. I suppose there is no reason to assume someone trained in math and logic would be a better Congressman than one who is not. On the other hand, it would be reassuring if people voting on important issues demonstrated some ability to think logically. Also, many issues are extremely technical in nature ...
