While I have long been skeptical that so-called bio-fuels will be a viable alternative in the near-term future for our energy needs, I’ve always believed that with more research we could find ways to steadily make them more and more useful. One of the biggest objections I’ve long had is that it seems strange to be using food that could feed hungry people to make fuel instead. But if we can make bio-fuels out of stuff people don’t normally eat anyway, that would be a plus. New Scientist notes another program that might help to that end. There ain’t too many folks who eat sawdust, are there? (Via Glenn .)
