sharkfish: Here’s the issue (my problem was porting sql from sql 2000 to 2005, and finding that views with multiple joins were incredibly slower on sql 2005): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933724 To fix, use DBCC TRACEON. But we don’t run our sites with that high a level of privilege.
