Pro Bowl cornerback Ty Law agreed to a five-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Law spent last season with the New York Jets, leading the NFL with 10 interceptions. He will rejoin coach Herman Edwards in Kansas City. Edwards left the Jets for the Chiefs in January, and has vowed to rebuild a defense that has been near the bottom of the league for five years. Officers trying to arrest Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Matthias Askew after a parking violation used a Taser to subdue him and charged him with resisting arrest. The 24-year-old Askew struggled with officers trying to handcuff him Saturday evening and broke away before he was shocked, police spokesman Lt. Tom Lanter said. Running back Ricky Williams broke his left arm in the second quarter of the Toronto Argonauts’ 26-23 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday night and is out indefinitely. Williams finished with 17 yards on four carries. He entered Saturday’s game with 214 yards on 53 carries with one touchdown in four games. Dallas tight end and two-time Pro Bowler Jason Witten agreed to a seven year, $29 million contract with the Cowboys on Saturday. The deal includes a $6 million signing bonus, a guaranteed $6 million option bonus next March on top of a $500,000 base salary this season, team officials said. Witten, 24, caught 87 passes for 980 yards in 2004. Last year, he had 66 catches for 757 yards. Witten was entering the final season of the original four-year contract he signed in 2003.... more
