Believe it or not, the Democratic presidential race is slowly coming to the end. The only problem is the two campaigns don’t agree on the finish line. After today’s primaries, NBC News projects that there will be more undeclared superdelegates (264) and disputed delegates (366 in Florida and Michigan) than there are to win in the final six contests (217) through June 3. "Indeed, there’s an argument to be made that after today, there are more delegates to be had INSIDE THE BELTWAY than out on the trail. So for all intents and purposes, today is the last shopping day of the primary season for the two Dems to impress the superdelegates on their issues." Despite the proportional allocation of delegates, most analysts estimate that Sen. Barack Obama will add to his delegate count tonight. He’s also been the beneficiary of many more superdelegates endorsements over the last month than his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton. Here are the lates...

While my colleague has written about Maureen Dowd’s concern about Obama naming Hillary Clinton to the Secretary of State post, and feels that it night be too hard for him to control both Clinton’s, Michael Hirsh has just the opposite view and believes that the Secratary of State’s job, while powerful and influential can be a very lonely one when your President decides your handling of things is not to his liking.   Here he gives us examples of the fate that has been... more

Early Obama supporter Tom Daschle has been rewarded for his endorsement with the plum appointment of Secretary of Health and Human Services, which gives him command of the Centers for Disease Control, the Rats of NIMH and the very simple task of reforming the nation’s health insurance system. Wait, didn’t Daschle work as a lobbyist after getting booted from the Senate? Although not a registered lobbyist, he provides "strategic advice" to commercial clients in the fields of ... more

From: donklephant.com

The will-she-or-won’t-she questions surrounding Hillary Clinton and the State Department took yet another turn this morning . Seems like Bill Clinton is willing to make some concessions to help his wife land the job: Clinton has agreed to release the names of several major donors to his charitable foundation and will submit future foundation activities and paid speeches to a strict ethics review, said Democrats knowledgeable about the discussions. They also said that Clinton would st... more

This country behaves like a deer in the headlights. Progressives saw the on-coming problems with healthcare 20 years ago. The Clinton administration attempted to swerve, but the deer was to scared to make a move, so nothing was done. The economy has now reached it's lowest point under the Bush policies of massive market deregulation. read more ... more

The change keeps coming! Quote: By Dick Morris And Eileen McGann 11.18.2008 If Barack Obama appoints Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State, it will send a cynical message to his supporters: that change is something they can still only hope for. Because if Obama relies on this unqualified Washington insider to fill one of the most important positions in his ‘outsider’ administration, it will represent neither change nor hope, ju... more

Starting today, Health Care for America Now is running ads in Washington, DC, reminding Congress and decision makers here in our nation’s capital exactly what happened on November 4th. Here’s the ad: Barack Obama ran on health care, plain and simple. He repeated the message we’ve highlighted above all over this country in speech after speech. Rove’s Compromise for Democrats
From: blogs.cqpolitics.com
Post Date: 2008-03-28 07:59:59

From his new perch as Fox News political pundit, Karl Rove explained how Sen. Barack Obama might deal with the problem of seating delegates from Florida and Michigan at the Democratic convention -- and win the Democratic nomination at the same time. Rove suggested that by agreeing to seat the delegates according to the results of the "illegal" January primaries -- even if that would give a slight advantage to Sen. Hillary Clinton -- Obama could actually persuade a majority of the remaining sup... more
Gore to the Rescue?

Joe Klein develops our speculation that Al Gore could possibly rescue the Democratic party from a divisive convention battle. "Let’s say the elders of the Democratic Party decide, when the primaries end, that neither Obama nor Clinton is viable. Let’s also assume—and this may be a real stretch—that such elders are strong and smart enough to act. All they’d have to do would be to convince a significant fraction of their superdelegate friends, maybe fewer than 100, t... more
Changing the Goal Line

As the Democratic presidential nomination fight moves into April, the only thing certain is that superdelegates will ultimately pick the party’s nominee. Supporters of Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton are now engaged in a fight of picking the appropriate metric for how the superdelegates should vote at the convention. Some say they should vote the same way their constituents did. Some say they should vote for whoever wins the most pledged delegates. Some say they should vote... more
The Real Dangers in Clinton’s White House Schedule
From: blogs.cqpolitics.com

Preliminary reviews of Hillary Clinton’s just-released schedules as First Lady haven’t yet found anything earth-shattering or controversial. Instead, the biggest danger for Clinton’s presidential aspirations in having journalists comb through the documents is that unpleasant memories of the Clinton years may soon be back in the headlines. An early example from ABC News : "Hillary Clinton spent the night in the White House on the day her husband had oral sex with Monica Lewi... more
