If you haven’t seen it, Patrick O’Rourke’s post on the Windows Virtualization Team Blog is worth a few minutes of your time. Patrick does a great job adding clarity to the announcement and provides very good examples. He also clarifies where Microsoft stands with regards to supporting VMware ESX environments:
“…it was reported that VMware signed an agreement to participate in the Server Virtualization Validation Program . That much is true. However, it doesn’t mean that cooperative support is now in place. First, ESX Server must go through and pass the validation test. Diese Server würde wir gerne auf einem Server zusammenfassen. Dies sollte über eine externe Storage gelöst werden. Ein zweiter VMware Server sollte Aufgrund der benötigten hohe Verfügbarkeit installiert werden.
