I’m still unclear how many people packed into Mile High Stadium. I’ve seen numbers between 75,000 and 90,000 . It seems like 84,000 is most commonly reported. Tight security plus so many people means long lines stretching at times up to six miles.
DCist has some great photos from the floor , including one of a group of people prevented from accessing the floor like at the Pepsi Center when Hillary moved to accept Obama as the nominee by acclamation .
The concerts at Mile High were one of the best parts of Thursday. If you didn’t see them or want to see them again, here they are:
John Legend and will.i.am performing “ Yes We Can ”
Sheryl Crow
Stevie Wonder performing “Fear Can’t Put Dreams To Sleep” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”
Michael McDonald
I was a little disappointed with the performance of Yes We Can. The crowd didn’t sound as into it as I had expected. Perhaps it was s...

The Bailout From: redstate.com Post Date: 2008-09-28 17:08:53
The End Is Just The Beginning
People vastly smarter than me say that the Paulson bailout plan
is a necessity to prevent a market meltdown.
I trust these people.
But I also know that people smarter than me got us into this
mess and the Democrats will not allow us out of this mess without
creating another mess of some sort down the road.
I have no bone to pick with those who support this plan. I
understand and go into this with eyes wide open that doing nothing
may have sho... more

EXCERPTS: . . . You know it’s bad when the scruffy-scragglies seem to make more sense than our political leaders. The Sunday Washington Post showed one demonstrator at a Wall Street Saturday protest against the financial bailout. The young gent was holding a sign that said in part, “No Banker Left Behind.”
There you have it: the latest federal entitlement program: first ... more
Did the Democrats ever expect to actually support the bailout? Earlier I deemed Pelosi as a failure for failing to know that she was not going to get but a plurality of her party to support the flawed bailout bill. Yet, as I think about the way that the Democrats have conducted themselves since Paulson announced his plan I am beginning to suspect that the Democrats did just what they set out to do.
The media pressure has been from the very beginning against the GOP. Some pundits th... more

The Ad From: delawareliberal.net Post Date: 2008-10-30 05:45:05
I have to admit I was a bit nervous about the ad. “What’s his deal? Is this too showy? Does it give Palin an opening?”
Then again, I was nervous about the DNC speech in Mile High stadium. “What’s his deal? Is this too showy? Does it give McCain [...]... more
Following in her husband’s footsteps, Sen. Clinton has become New Hampshire’s latest “Comeback Kid.” With 99 percent of precincts reporting, she edged out Sen. Obama by a slim margin of 3 percent. For all practical purposes, the Democratic primary has become a two-person race — which both Clinton and Obama have an even shot of winning.

Part of my job is focused on looking towards the future. I try to predict trends that will have to be dealt with in the upcoming months, years and even decades. Because I am somewhat of a political junkie, sometimes I try to forecast future political scenarios as well. The way I see it (and note that I am writing this while watching the NH primary results), John McCain will be the Republican nominee. I know — I am not going out on a limb with that one or anything. But, what is mo... more
Time For Change From: aaa-fund.com Post Date: 2008-01-08 21:58:41
Ed. Note: AAA-Fund Blogger Olivia Luk’s husband Jonathan Bedi is running for the Illinois State Senate (AAA-Fund of Greater Chicago has not made an endorsement in his race). Until Feb. 5, Olivia will be giving us an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look of a live political campaign.
Jonathan and I watched CNN last Thursday night as the Iowa caucus results came in. We were incredulous, but excited. Even the voters in Iowa are ready for a change. The notion that Americans are ready... more
