TechCrunch entered Live Expo into the Deadpool , but I claim that MS has not left the classifieds game just yet. I received word today that Microsoft is launching Task Market which is essentially a mini rent-a-freelancer for specific office related tasks. (its not exactly classifieds but rather a niche of classifieds) From the outreach note: For every person who throws up both hands at the prospect of creating a complex formula in Microsoft Excel, somewhere in the world there’s another person who can make it look easy. I cannot tell you how true this is as I have seen it first hand. Having a project board for “mini projects” from $20 - $500 seems like a much needed resource. Currently you can probably find the same services at the same price levels at sites like Guru , iFreelance , RentACoder , but none of them can put the volume of small business users at their service like Microsoft can with some well placed links off of a property like MSN. ...

Microsoft is bringing Windows OS into the Cloud
From: daily-tech-report.com
Post Date: 2008-10-02 08:25:39

In recent years, over-the-top service provider companies like Google and Amazon have been trying to evangelize moving more and more computing away from enterprises and consumers into the “Cloud” - this use of centralized resources “on-demand” has the end-user benefits of no up-front costs, scaling of resources as needed, and coherent centralized data storage, though the downside is a loss of control over critical IT resources - if Amazon’s EC2 on-demand computing... more

Outbound Marketing - Following up
From: marketing.fm
Post Date: 2008-05-21 03:14:24

A few months ago I had to open a new bank account with Citibank . The experience did not go well to say the least, which was sad because I have banked with Citibank for over 10 years. They did however follow up with me, the new customer, about a month later to see how things were going. To my surprise they did not recognize that I was already a Citibank customer and did not connect the dots between accounts (an easy thing to let slide). My problem with the whole affair is that t... more

If you do something well people will take notice. If you do something great, consistently, will will talk about it. That should be the ultimate goal of any company that is trying to formulate a plan for marketing their product or service. But what happens when there is scarcity of your product or service? This is the case with a restaurant in New York called Momofuku Ko which requires you to make a reservation online to dine there. The system has been fully democratized and ther... more
Comcast to Acquire Plaxo

Post Date: 2008-05-20 12:01:58

It was announced today that Plaxo will be acquired by Comcast - or at least they have entered into an agreement for this to happen. An important piece of the announcement that grabbed my attention: Plaxo and Comcast have been working together for the past year on a number of initiatives. Plaxo is providing the universal address book for Comcast’s SmartZone communications center (slated to launch later this year), and we are also now hosting all of the address book acc... more
Finding the right signal to noise ratio
From: marketing.fm
Post Date: 2008-05-18 14:49:38

Robert Scoble has a great post about why you have to fine-tune your signal to noise ratio . I was asked recently by a friend about why I subscribe to so many feeds - this is a part of the reason. Ever since I switched to Google reader I have been having an easier time sorting through the data. I like the noise. Why? Because I can see patterns before anyone else. I saw the Chinese earthquake happening 45 minutes before Google News reported it. Why? Because I was watching the noise, not ... more
