Mazen Asbahi , the attorney who had volunteered as Barack Obama's outreach coordinator to Muslim and Arab-Americans, has resigned after accusations of ties to Jamal Said , an imam at a fundamentalist mosque in Illinois. Asbahi briefly sat on the board of Allied Assets Advisors Fund with Said in 2000.

Egyptian police detained 28 members of the opposition Muslim Brotherhood moveme nt in the northwestern coastal town of Marsa Matrouh on Saturday, police and Brotherhood sources told Reuters. The police said the Islamists, 24 from Marsa Matrouh province and four from the coastal city of Alexandria, were attending an organizational meeting.
