In selecting first-term Governor Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) as his running mate, Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) proved that not only does he not have the judgment to choose a qualified second-in-command but that he lacks the judgment to lead. Palin, an unknown outside of her home state of Alaska, is a political lightweight with zero experience on foreign policy and international relations, and no known background on national issues other than drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) — she’s for it — and reproductive rights — she’s against them. She has served as the Governor of Alaska for eighteen months. That is three weeks less than McCain has campaigned for the presidency and they have only met once prior to her selection . But McCain isn’t the only person who does not know his running mate. Apparently a lot of Republican electeds and operatives are clueless about the Alaskan governor : “No one knows a...

I’ve noticed I haven’t put much that’s positive on my blog and when this happened I thought it be fun to blog about.  So anyway, it all started on Thanksgiving when my brother, my momma and I were all sitting around after dinner bored out of our minds.  I finally had to do something and asked them if they wanted to see if the video store was open.  My brother immediately said yes and my momma didn’t want to go.  I’d been dieing to see Wall-E sin... more

Quote: A woman took the microphone to say that Obama could not be trusted because he is an "Arab" -- not a surprising misconception, given the Republicans who have taken to stressing Obama’s middle name, Hussein. Do you watch any of the other networks besides FOX? I rotate them, CNN, MSNBC, FOX etc. If you only watch one, I expect a lot of what I’m seeing here. I noticed you didn’t touch a couple of the points I brought up. In another post you said: "The ACORN doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it?" McCain was the keynote speaker for Acorn in 2006. And just go thru the article I linked to, lots of Republicans work with them. And the other article I linked to, about McCain picking ... more
The Fat Lady is Singing

She’s on the stage and she’s on the last chorus.  The fat lady is singing and we’re heading down the Obama crevasse.  I admit I’m voting for McCain though I’m not real fond of him.  But if he could just halfway be charismatic and put a few sentences together without mumbling or stumbling so much, he’d have a great shot at winning this election.  If he were Ronald Reagan, this election would be over.  Shoot, I think Ross Perot, Mitt Romney or even Mike... more
Looking Ahead . . .
From: freedomdemocrats.org
Post Date: 2008-09-29 09:14:42

Some thoughts on the poll above . . . First, some assumptions. Senator John McCain will be defeated by Senator Barack Obama by both a solid electoral and popular vote margin, although not the blowout I once expected. Barack Obama will have the psychological boost of being the first Democratic candidate since LBJ to win over 50% of the popular vote. Governor Sarah Palin, who for a while was managing to exceed expectations and present herself as a reasonable nominee for VP and a t... more

So as we eagerly await the big event tonight, the one question that still lingers for me is...just what will Governor Sarah Failin be wearing?? I’m thinking she goes with the red dress. Or a parka or a live seal to show her state pride. Also, I might be going out on a limb here, but I’m pretty sure this question will be where things really get out of hand: "Governor Palin, suppose one of the world’s leading scientists and your local witch doctor meet to discuss global warming.... more

YearlyKos Takeaway: A Sense of Community

I was fortunate enough to make it to Chicago for the YearlyKos Convention this past weekend. It was an experience that I will never forget. I was able to meet really interesting people doing amazing things from around the country. The biggest takeaway for me was connecting with several Latino bloggers and activists. It was the first time in a long time, if ever, that I felt a sense of community with my brown brothers and sisters. I am hoping to expand our small caucus between now and next... more
