(As you may have realised over the last few years I can only be bothered writing match previews when asked to do them for other boards. You’ll eventually see the below on the Brisbane forum. Enjoy!) Brisbane fans may see something of their own history in the Melbourne side that runs out at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon. For those of you who were Brisbane Bears fans, think of pretty much any year between 1987 and 1994 but without the scoreboard that had the jaunty little bear dancing around even when you were losing by 150. If you’re a Fitzroy fan think 1995/96 - but don’t think about it for too long or you’ll have a nervous breakdown. If you were neither of these and joined the party just in time to enjoy triple premiership glory then the only way you’ll be able to have any reference point to the way we’re playing this season is to go outside, tip your garbage bins onto the road, wait for a car to run into the wreckage and then stand ther...

From The Sun: Quote: EXCLUSIVE: NORTH Melbourne faces the prospect of six interstate trips in what looms as a horror draw for the club next season. While the AFL is still finalising its fixture for next year, with an official announcement up to a fortnight away, it is believed the Roos may be hardest hit. North Melbourne is likely to play 16 games in Victoria - one against Geelong at Skilled Stadium - but may be forced to travel six times. ... more
Simple Trade+Draft Game!!!

Pretty simple game. Take a team, trade for a certain amount of time (trading both players and draft picks) then we will have a draft on Friday at 6 o’clock Perth time, 8pm over east, could change depending on time trading starts. Players that were traded during trade week go to new clubs (Warnock at CARLTON, Thomson at RICHMOND etc). De-listed players can not be traded with and will be available in the draft. Retired players are retired and are not on the team lists. If you do... more

The first of our guest reviews comes from Big Footy regular CaptainDavey - Enjoy! Heaven and Hell. Saints and Demons. Going on names, you’d think that a match between two sides dubbed the Saints and the Demons would be an almighty biblical struggle. But it wasn’t. To be honest it rarely is. Instead we, the Demons, found ourselves reamed by our holy counterparts without mercy. The Saints simply went biblical on our collective arses. Now I’m not one really for religion, but a showing s... more

The next time I attempt to listen to a game in a god-forsaken internet cafe in a foreign country remind me to get one that has a computer which was constructed sometime in the 21st century. Great to hear that we’re the official one hit wonders of the league. Fuck it all to hell. ... more

I’m not used to writing reports on honourable losses. Usually there’s some sort of angle that I can hide behind to at least come up with a catchy headline. This week I’ve got nothing. From the Rejected Headlines Department, I had "Pork A Hawk" all ready to go if we’d gotten up, but that one’s gone in the vault for future years now. Many years in the future by the looks of it. Yes, Hawthorn. Remember them? It shouldn’t be hard to, they only beat us to the ... more

Even though we all knew it was coming I’m still stunned that the era of Neitz is over. He now joins the likes of Tingay, Lyon and Lovett in not getting to play a ’farewell’ game. Everyone’s got about a thousand memories (most of them of him murdering Luke McCabe) but the two days that will stand out in my memory are when he kicked 9 against Richmond, and especially the 8 against St. Kilda when he just ran riot like a 21 year old. Celebrate the great man via... more
