Late at Tate’s MADE UP Mix : 25 September 2008 18:00 – 21:00 Eclectic Sights, Sounds and Sensations at Tate Liverpool Celebrate the opening of the Liverpool Biennial with a special night of imagination and improvisation. In the month of September Late at Tate presents MADE UP Mix, an evening of musical delights and new work from leading international artists. MADE UP Mix gives visitors the opportunity to experience an exhilarating improvised performance by Bob and Roberta Smith’s Apathy Band (where members of the public are invited to take part), a revealing tour by Tate Liverpool’s MADE UP curator and a documentary screening featuring Biennial artists Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler. Chibuku DJ Phil Charnock will be warming up the foyer from 18.00, followed by a performance by avant-garde Leeds band, Die Plankton. For the 2nd year artinliverpool.com has awarded a Purchase Prize to a graduating student at the Hope University Fine Art & Design degree show. An exhibition in the top floor flat of 45 Hope Street opened tonight, we got there after champagne and canapes at the John Lennon exhibition launch so this was quite a contrast and very refreshing. The show by 7 contemporary young artists has been organised and curated by Lucy Johnston supported by the Arts Council and Junction49 . It was a bit crowded tonight so couldn’t see all the artwork properly but its a really interesting mix. I recommend you buy the catalogue too. ... more
