At $526.052 billion , at 1904 days , at an average population of 297 million , the daily cost of the Iraq War to every American, no matter their age, who was alive during the war has been $0.93, or just under $1. On February 5th, 2009, the Iraq war will have cost every American $2,000.00, regardless of the age of that American. If the next President does not reduce spending on the Iraq War, by the end of his term the war will have cost every American nearly $3,400.00. Money like would, roughly speaking, purchase health care, gas or food for an entire year. Since this is per person, no matter the age of the person, this is the case for every person in every family, no matter the size of the family. Instead, this money got spent on Iraq. And, of course, this just deals with the supplemental Iraq spending bills, not the money from the military budget that is also being spend in Iraq. Thought that was worth noting.

Khalida: The mother of two, shown in silhouette, was raped during the war. Rape’s vast toll in Iraq war remains largely ignored By Anna Badkhen, The Christian Science Monitor , November 24, 2008 edition Amman, Jordan - As though recoiling from her own memories, Khalida shrank deeper into her faded armchair with each sentence she told: of how gunmen apparently working for Iraq’s Interior Ministry kidnapped her, beat and raped her; of how they discarded her on a Baghdad s... more
