How GM errs using its blog to respond to bad press
From: intuitive.com

The New York Times published a quite critical op-ed piece from well-known economist Tom Friedman (author of the best-selling book The World Is Flat , among others) entitled GM keeps the gas flowing and U.S. soldiers in danger [link points to Deseretnews.com’s reprint]. A few pithy quotes: "Is there a company more dangerous to America’s future than General Motors? He’s not my doppleganger, and as far as I know we aren’t related other than by Google, but when I had the chance to interview well-known game developer Dave Taylor, I couldn’t resist. Here’s our interview, and I hope you enjoy our witty banter... The Other Dave Taylor, Gamer Q: Okay, you clearly stole my name or we’re twins of different mothers or something. Exhibit A: Consider this sophomoric response by Mark Frauenfelder, part of th... more

My friend and colleague Debbie Weil reports that 49% won’t use blogs in the next year according to Forrester Research . 49% of whom? Of "interactive marketers", that is, marketing professionals who include the online world in their campaigns and efforts. She’s surprised that the figure is so low, but I look at it differently: I’m surprised that it’s so high, actually. Debbie says: "I maintain that blogs are really just next-generation Web sites.
