Geraldine Ferraro tried to stick her foot in her mouth but her loafers were too small. So instead she unpacked a whip and stuck that in there and it fit just right. This week she theorized that a self-made black guy with a Muslim name has a political advantage over a white woman who is the wife of a two-term President.Put in historical context, a statement like that doesn’t make sense. That’s why Affirmative Action exists. Ferraro should know this. After all, she’s a white woman white women have benefited more from Affirmative Action than any other group the legislation was created to serve. Don’t take my word for it, let’s conduct a poll of all the presidents and see which of the black ones felt their ethnicity aided their ascent to the White House. Wait, there’s never been a black president. All the black people who ran for this office before Senator Obama were so thoroughly marginalized that you can’t even call what they did running for pre...

-- McCain : "I’m afraid Senator Obama doesn’t understand the difference between a tactic and a strategy".

From a reader:
While some are looking for confirmation whether Mrs. Jopek had asked Senator Obama to stop wearing (or using it) her son's wristband, what all are ignoring is Sergeant Jopek supported the mission in Iraq and died supporting a cause he believed in. That is Obama's greatest shame, that he has always failed to say that SGT Jopek gave all in a cause he believed in.
Yet that is just like what the liberal media failed to say when they propped up Cindy Sheehan. No... more

Last night’s debate provided viewers the chance to see the two presidential candidates talk turkey on a variety of issues. It also gave voters the opportunity to see if Senators Obama and McCain knew the difference between fact and fiction. I attended Regent University’s Clash of the Titans debate, and despite the great debate with Rick Santorum (who is a Virginian), Mike Huckabee, Steve Forbes, and lefties Alan Colmes and Donna Brazile, it was Geraldine Ferraro I got a kick out of, not because of anything she said, but of my youthful memories of this interview (at about 1:24 of the video)

Who could resist an appeal from Jeri Thompson? For that matter how many women will be able to resist voting for the first woman vice-president? Well, it didn’t help Geraldine Ferraro in 1984. But that was another age. Must they wait another age before their next chance? Not these folks, anyhow. Via The Fat Guy . ... more
WOODINVILLE, Wash. - Three seven-figure dream homes went up in flames early Monday in a Seattle suburb, apparently set by eco-terrorists who left a sign mocking the builders’ claims that the 4,000-plus-square-foot houses were environmentally friendly.
The sign — a sheet marked with spray paint — bore the initials ELF, for Earth Liberation Front, a loose collection of radical environmentalists that has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks since the 1990s.
The sheriff... more

PASADENA, Calif. - A robotic spacecraft circling Mars has snapped the first image of a series of active avalanches near the planet’s north pole, scientists said Monday.
The image, taken last month, reveals at least four avalanches of fine ice and dust breaking off from a steep cliff and settling on the slope below. The cascade kicked up massive debris clouds, with some measuring more than 590 feet across.
The landslides were spied by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter during a routine... more
MANCHESTER (AFP) - Rio Ferdinand has acknowledged that the current crop of Manchester United stars will not be recognised as a great team if they do not go on to win the Champions League at least once in the next few years.
With their biggest stars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, still only in their early 20s, United look like enjoying several years of success.
But Ferdinand, a beaten semi-finalist with Leeds in 2000 and United last season, is painfully aware of how small th... more
