We’ve already established that Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 by Bizarre Creations is a great game. It’s simultaneously an excellent shoot-em-up and the best application of math since calculating power levels. It makes us sad to think that there might be some of you out there who haven’t played it yet. And, honestly, you not having the game hurts our own enjoyment. How are we supposed to feel awesome about our high scores if we can’t see how much better they are than yours? Who will we get into a pointless Geometry War with? Our friends? Please. Have you met our friends? They couldn’t even handle a Pre-Algebra War.
So, with that in mind, we’re going to give away a free download code for Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 on Xbox Live Arcade! One lucky GameCyte reader will receive a gift code that will allow them to download the full, unlocked version of GW2 with their Xbox Live account, free of charge, in just over two weeks’ time. While we must admit we’ve never played the Talisman board game, we are sad to announce that Capcom has canceled the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game. Strange as it may seem, the cancellation was announced not in any official capacity, but in a forum post nearly two months ago. Capcom’s Christian Svensson broke the news to an inquitive forum goer, stating that there was a "misfire" at the beginning of development and Capcom had decided not to sw... more

Someone asked for the right to add my gamertag to a petition last night over Xbox Live.
I’ve seen online petitions before, but never before has someone requested permission over Microsoft’s online service before.
At first, I thought he was trying to trick me into revealing my password, giving him access to my account. That wasn’t the case, and his motives were not sinister.
He had a good reason to be asking on Xbox Live. He was organizing a petition — currently over 300... more

According to Kotaku, Metal Gear Solid 4’s release date has been announced at Destination PlayStation, a retailer conference. With a package like that, the PlayStation 3 might finally have those coveted hardware shortages that Nintendo and Microsoft have been enjoying.... more
The MKR Group, a movie producer with rights to George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, are moving forward with their suit against Capcom over copyright infringement. The producer contends that the game Dead Rising, now part of the XBox 360’s Platinum Hits line, is an unlicensed video game adaptation of Dawn of the Dead. Capcom’s position is that the idea of humans fighting zombies in a mall is a “wholly unprotectible” concept.

When we hear talk of the number of users of MMOs, we’re used to hearing numbers on two different orders of magnitude: the little guys rejoicing when they reach 200K and Blizzard bragging about how they have the equivalent of the population of Greece actively subscribed to World of Warcraft. In a pleasant break from the trend of arguing over what, exactly, constitutes and active user and whether or not there is room in the marketplace for two subscription-based MMOs, ArenaNet has just annou... more
