According to Spread Firefox the official release time for Firefox 3.0 will be at 10AM PST, so 1PM EST (for me). Are you excited? Really excited? Well if you are, I feel sorry for you I took a note from Chris Blizzard and cheated by downloading already by typing out the full URL into a mirror (no, I didn’t use a link). Unfortunately for Fedora 9 users I haven’t seen any notice of an update (Fedora 8 no clue). Perhaps it will be available in a day or so? Still bugs to deal with? There was a tip for Fedora/Linux users: a) disable "Tell me if the site I’m visiting is a suspected attack site/forgery" in Preferences-> Security b) remove the urlclassifier* files in ~/.mozilla/firefox/profile (while FF is not running) Not sure if it works, I haven’t tested it - yet. Otherwise as a last general tip for people who are upgrading/updating straight from Firefox 2.0.x to Firefox 3, I would recommend at least bac...

Mengapa Gentoo Linux?
From: liputankita.com
Post Date: 2008-09-30 20:15:08

Hampir semua paket ... more

And Ebay believes installing open source software on an open platform (as is stated on Sony’s site) is a "copyright violation". Sysop Some comments on Sunday about this site performing well induced me to have a look at the traffic over the last week. I was extremely surprised at how much load the system can now take without stalling. From the Wordpress blog stats, It turns out that the traffic for the week was 34.6% higher in page views compared to the week before. It was a staggering 61.9% higher than it was two weeks before. It makes me more confident about running the site at a technical level towards the 20... more

Within every release of the official kernel source from kernel.org there is a provided /Documentation directory. This directory contains various notes, guides, tips, documentation, explanations and otherwise useful information. Majority of this content is provided in pure text format. I thought it would be convenient if I could navigate through this infomation on the internet. So I decided to host it myself. Fedora Core 5 on Dell D810 Laptop
From: mjmwired.net
Post Date: 2006-05-16 18:58:21

Over the last weekend I installed Fedora Core 5 on a Dell Latitude D810 laptop . Unlike Jason’s laptop criteria , I basically required a Dell laptop. I wanted the D610, however it was unavailable and I had to settle for the D810. Even though I customized it, I really did not have any control over what hardware specifically would be better for Linux. However one luxury I was afforded was to be able to maximize the provided features. In fact the only features that possibly would ... more
Fedora Core 6 - 64 bit
From: mjmwired.net
Post Date: 2007-04-01 10:45:36

After hearing many complaints about trouble using Fedora Core 6 with a 64 bit processor, I decided to test it myself. For the most part almost everything is identical however there were some issues I found. I decided to write a mini-guide with some notes and tips for 64 bit. Personal Fedora Core 6 64 bit Notes The only seriously confusing problems I had was with the co-existing of both i386 and x86_64 libraries and packages, commonly referred to as multilib . The rpm command is impro... more
Curious Multimedia Dependancies
From: mjmwired.net
Post Date: 2007-03-30 18:23:18

The jokes made about confusing Linux dependancies may at times seem funny, but they reflect a sad truth. After my previous complaint about gui nuisances in Rythmbox , I installed of copy of FC6 - 64bit to a spare partition . Following my own FC6 Guide , I came upon the MP3 section. Adding MP3 support to Rythmbox (GTK based GNOME media player) requires: yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly This downloads 7 packages which are less than 1MB and most come from the Livna repositor... more
