If you’ve ever lacked for something to toast to we’ve got it.  Today is the anniversary of the repeal of prohibition , a glorious day that, without which we wouldn’t exist, and the Kennedy’s would be even richer from bootlegging. To celebrate this glorious anniversary there, naturally, a happy hour.  So, if you can’t make or don’t feel like crashing one of the parties tonight, make your way out to Ragtime in Arlington for a few.  You can find the details here . Perhaps some day Repeal Day will get the official holiday status it deserves.  Though, we’d suggest we actually get the day after Repeal Day off so we can truly celebrate it the way it should be celebrated.

The office o... more

But now that he has climbed in the polls, his advocay of the national sales tax is beginning to generate some negative press. Conservatives such as Rich Lowry of National Review understandably have some qualms about Huckabee’s less-than-stellar fiscal record in Arkansas, but attacking tax reform is not the best resonse - particularly if they legitimize class-warfare arguments: ... more
Edited: Special GuestS at First Friday THIS Friday: Cal Thomas and Newt Gingrich.
From: firstfriday.wordpress.com

UPDATE: Just heard from Newt’s scheduler and his plans have changed again, so he’s coming.  He will probably be there early, close to 5:30, or at least that was the plan, so plan on that.   This month’s special guest has a dream job, to be able to write for a living and have people read it.  Cal Thomas is the most widely syndicated columnist in the word and a regular panelist on Fox News Channel’s Fox News Watch with former First Friday special guest Jim Pi... more
