The mission of NewsTrust—it’s nonprofit and non-partisan—is to be a “guide to good journalism.” The site offers a “range of tools to help you find and share” the best stuff. It has a system for surfacing quality news that anyone can participate in by rating news stories and works of commentary, or by submitting them to be rated.
NewsTrus t is one kind of answer to a question I am often asked. If supply keeps expanding (because so many have media power now) won’t there come a crisis in demand? And don’t we lose something if we no longer have that common narrative once provided by Big Media?
Sites like NewsTrust take it for granted that expansion of the media space is a good thing. But filtering and forwarding systems must keep pace. The better we are at that—finding the good stuff, forwarding it to eager users—the easier it is to relax and accept that anyone can be a producer, or that good cont...

One day and night has passed for CRNC: Vegas. Top gossip so far:
1. “WestFest” was the big party of Friday night. The party was sponsored by Zach Howell, and was reportedly a tremendous success. One report estimated that more than 100 people attended throughout the night.
2. A CR mole reports that Ben Johnson has promised to appoint former Texas CR Chair Ryan Murphy as CRNC executive director in a Johnson administration. Either Johnson is buying off Texas, or in the words of Joh... more
Deborah Howell Takes On A Strawman, But Refuses to Make The Hard Calls
Conservatives—keep hitting the MSM where it hurts: in the bank
account
Last week, Post Ombundswoman Deborah Howell “took on” the issue of
media bias.
I was underwhelmed, as were most of you (I suspect).
IIRC, the job of the ombundsman is to hold people inside one’s

Last night’s Hell to Pay fundraiser for Darcy Burner was a huge success. We started out with a goal of getting Darcy 3,200 donors...and we ended up with 3,643 , raising $ 25,262 ! And that total doesn’t even include the donations made to the entire slate of O2B candidates . Kudos to the community for coming together for one of our own. From DemFromCT: The tracking polls today include one full day (of three) that are post debate, and Obama is now at 50% in 3... more
You’ve seen the news:Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as "disastrous." One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, "What are we going to do?" The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is "clueless." Even some conservative writer... more
While Clinton, McCain and Obama all push for donations in e-mails, the Obama’s campaign also uses e-mail to get diehards to trek to Oregon and knock on doors.
