Fees For Serving Court Orders To Go Up

The extra fee is being done statewide to create the Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplementation Fund which will give supplimental income to deputies in counties where they make less than $28,000. Think about that…that is about $13.50 an hour.  That’s it. They could work in a call center for almost that much and not have to worry about being shot. According to Circuit Clerk Steve Helms there are about 35,000 services like this done by the Sheriff’s Department on an annual basis so that would give an estimated $350,000 contribution from Greene County. Chief Deputy Jim Arnott said that Greene County deputies make more than $28,000 and will not receive any money from the program.
