I have been experimenting with cuil , as Google’s tendency to archive everything has always troubled me. Frankly, I wouldn’t touch a gmail account with a 10-foot electron: I know that all email is vulnerable (see the previous post), but I’m certainly not going to invite someone to read my mail so that they can send me bleeping advertisements based on the content of my mail. Cut me a break!
To facilitate my testing mucking about with cuil, I put it on my personal bar, in the search engine list, and on the speed dial in Opera, so I could get to it quickly no matter what I was doing in the main browser window.
Aside: I tried to make it the default search engine in the search window in the upper right, but I think that would mean editing /usr/share/opera/opera6.ini , something I’m hesitant to do until I’ve got enough time to fix it if I break it.
