At the beginning of his “Mad Money” TV show on THE SHOUTING CHANNEL today, Jim Cramer told his viewers to sell their energy and minerals stocks tomorrow (Thursday): “We raise some cash buy letting go some of our huge winners in oil & gas, in copper, in coal.” Cramer went on to tell his viewers to “ring the register”, don’t be greedy, don’t be a hog, and that you don’t have gains until you take them off the table. “Retail” investors like Cramer’s viewers got sucked into the March-to-May bear-market rally in large numbers. This was the first time net money flowed into US stocks in a year - see the chart here. Only the masses can cause a move like that. How much of this retail money has bugged-out already? There’s really no way of knowing that, but I’ll bet that it isn’t done yet. Cramer is usually late to catching onto what the market is doing, so he may be kicking off the final, thoug...

Dr. Phil and Jim Cramer team up
From: informedtrades.com
Post Date: 2008-10-10 10:21:26

The apocalype is finally upon us: Dr. Phil invites Jim Cramer to talk about the economy on today’s show. The idea of the show is to put some perspective on the economic crisis, but it might end up striking more fear into the hearts of viewers. "I question, Dr. Phil, whether retirement as a concept is even going to exist in 10 years," said game show host Ben Stein on the show, according to Time Magazine. Need any help stirring that pot, Ben? Meanwhile, Cramer explains his panic-inducing ... more

Wedge Baby All Growed Up
From: trivisonno.com
Post Date: 2008-06-15 22:01:18

On Friday night’s episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer stated that he did not believe in technical chart analysis. Today, here on my blog, Doug Kass commented that technical analysis is not his approach. Fine. But why don’t we take a look at a little example that has made me an absurdly huge return this month? (Sorry for the crappy charts below, but it is late at night and it would take a long time to fix them.) On May 6th, I posted my first chart of the “rising wedge”... more
No Bottom for XLF
From: trivisonno.com
Post Date: 2008-06-15 11:32:30

The XLF financial-sector ETF bounced off of its March 17th low last week, but are bulls like Jim Cramer and Doug Kass (who is long Citigroup) justified in their jubilation? Not a chance. To see the no-brainer evidence for my contention, just punch up a chart of the BKX banking index. Not only has the BKX plunged through the March low, but it will soon be testing the fabled October 2002 low (just as I predicted on May 28th.) XLF will continue to follow the BKX down. Cramer wrote o... more
Low-Volume Rally Doesn’t Impress

Post Date: 2008-06-13 13:36:50

Volume was down for today’s rally in the SPY, QQQQ, IWM, and XLF compared to the down-days this week. And since “volume follows trend”, we can be assured that the trend is still down. A good deal of the volume was short-covering too. The evidence for that can be seen at 10am when the Consumer Sentiment number dropped yet again; this time to a 15-year low. Instead of falling, the market sprang upward. A lot of traders actually believed Larry Kudlow’s contention that the ec... more
Larry Kudlow is an Idiot #2
From: trivisonno.com
Post Date: 2008-06-12 22:41:28

On Wednesday night’s edition of his show in THE SHOUTING CHANNEL (a.k.a. CNBC), Larry Kudlow’s guests stared in horror as Kudlow shouted that Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Donald Kohn should “shut his yap.” What did Kohn say that was so offensive to Kudlow? He said that the Fed should hold rates steady until at least one or two teenagers could get summer jobs. That doesn’t sound too crazy to me. So why did Kudlow go berserk? Because he knows that $150 oil i... more
