Nell’immaginario collettivo, il nerd è l’individuo foderato di strati adiposi in eccesso, il volto tempestato dall’acne (anche a quarant’anni), il vestiario non esattamente di haute couture, incatenato 24/7 al computer, risucchiato da Wow/MMORPG vari. In una certa misura, lo stereotipo corrisponde al vero. Ma il livello superiore del nerdismo è racchiuso in un’altra definizione: A person who gains pleasure from amassing large quantities of knowledge about subjects often too detailed or complicated for most other people to be bothered with.
