So, we’re getting ready for Houses of the Blooded and we’ve made characters which is cool. For those unfamiliar with the game, HotB uses Aspects, a mechanic borrowed from Spirit of the Century which, in turn, was based on FATE which itself is based on FUDGE. Confused yet?
FUDGE > FATE > Spirit of the Century > Houses of the Blooded
A full 50% of those games are available for free at the links I’ve provided so, if you’re interested in what I’m talking about, you should check them out.
Anyway: Aspects. Aspects are something about a character (or object, or location) that is important and can be manipulated for both a benefit and a penalty, and they are intended to make a game more engaging. Whether my knee-jerk reaction was good or bad isn’t really something I’m concerned with, though I do wonder if my reaction wasn’t colored by the fact that much of wh...
