At the Linux Plumbers Conference, Arjan van de Ven and Auke Kok (who works at the Open Source Technology Center of Intel) have demonstrated a Linux distribution that starts in just five seconds on a Eee PC ’s DSS. This time means that it must wait for the hard drive and processor at rest without the network enabled, which still appear INpressionnant for different users of Windows, Linux or even Mac OS X. For those who want to start on a good old hard drive, it was clarified that the time to boot then went to 10 seconds. Distributions demonstration were improved versions of Fedora and Moblin. Analyzing the time to boot default the first distribution through Bootchart, Arjan Van de Ven said that “everybody should pay because some want to start a mail server.
